District News

A Message from Russell McQuaide, Superintendent

It is a privilege to serve the educational needs of the Mathews Community. The mission of our school district is to make a difference every day in the lives of our students. Although it seems as if children grow too quickly, every day is a significant incremental contribution to their development. That is why we cannot waste a minute! Although Mathews teachers and staff are excellent, we understand that parents are the first and best teachers of their children. This is important to note, because we need your help in taking care of their needs. If parents and school personnel work together as a team, we can make a difference every day in the lives of our students!

Medical Requirement

Attention Parents of Current Sixth and Eleventh Grade Students!

The Ohio Department of Health has the following requirements for students in Grades 7 and 12 for the 2019-2020 school year:

All 7th grade students must have received either a Tdap or a Td booster shot. This requirement has been in effect since the 2010-2011 school year.

All students entering 7th grade in the 2019-2020 school year are required to have received either a Tdap or a Td vaccine and a Meningococcal Vaccine

All students entering 12th grade in the 2019-2020 school year are required to have proof of a meningitis booster or an initial meningitis vaccine.

  • The second (booster) dose must be given on or after the student's 16th birthday
  • If the first vaccine was given after the 16th birthday, a second dose is NOT required.

The school will need proof in writing that your child has been immunized with these vaccines by the start of the 2019-2020 school year. Failure to do so is cause for exclusion from school after the 14th day of the new school year. This is a requirement from the Ohio Department of Health.
If you have any further questions please contact our school nurse, Mrs. Guarnieri.

Records may also be faxed to school at 330-394-3665.
